Grapplers finish 11th at Roger Williams Invitational

Bristol, RI – The Maritime College wrestling team opened up their season this past weekend at the 15th annual Roger Williams University Invitational. In a tournament that featured 14 teams with such programs as Boston University, Norwich University and of course the host team Roger Williams, the Privateers finished 11th with 32 points.
 
Notable finishes for the Privateers included sophomore Brian Ochs (Sayville, NY/Sayville) (Sayville, NY) placed fifth in the 174 weight class while and sophomore Phil Gallo (Roslyn, NY/Wheatley) (Roslyn, NY) placed fourth at heavyweight. Ochs finished out the weekend at 6-2 and had an impressive win over a Division I wrestler from Boston U. Gallo went 4-2 and sophomore Ian Mullins (River Ridge, LA/Archbishop Rummel) (River Ridge, LA) had two victories before being forced to forfeit the rest of his matches due to an ankle injury.
 
Next up for the Privateer wrestlers will be the 2005 Fall Brawl, which is being hosted by Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA. Amongst those invited to take part in the Brawl this season are The College of New Jersey, Muhlenberg, Lafayette and Princeton.
